Date: 13th century
Unspecified Syriac script (multiple hands) ܀ Paper Codex, 75 leaves.

Wright's Subject Classification: Psalters; Service-books
The Psalms, according to the Pěshiṭtā version

Physical Description

Paper, about 5 ½ in. by 3 ½, consisting, according to the present numeration, of 101, but in reality of only 75 leaves, most of which are much stained by water and torn, more especially foll. 1—11, and 80—101. The volume is very defective, both at the beginning and end, and a leaf is wanting after fol. 59. Each page is divided into two columns, of from 16 to 20 lines. The writing is small and neat, of about the xiiith cent; but foll. 14-47 and 60-69 are of somewhat later date, and the inserted slips later still.

The difference is owing to the insertion of slips of paper, on which such portions of the text as had become illegible were copied out by a later hand. These slips were originally pasted down upon the leaves, but have now become loosened, and are numbered as separate folios.

Hand 1 (major, Unspecified Syriac script): The writing is small and neat, of about the xiiith cent.
Hand 2 (minor, Unspecified Syriac script): Foll. 14—47 and 60—69 are of somewhat later date.
Hand 3 (minor, Unspecified Syriac script): The inserted slips are of a still later date.
Hand 4 (minor, Unspecified Syriac script): See additions.
Hand 5 (minor, Unspecified Syriac script): See additions.
Decoration (Ornamentation): In the older portions of the manuscript there are some attempts at the ornamentation; see fol. 79 b, etc.

Manuscript Contents

Note: Item numbering updated in digital edition.
