Addition 1 (Fol. 1a): On fol. 1a, there is an Arabic note, rather indistinct and somewhat mutilated, from which it appears that this volume was written for the convent of S. Mary Deipara by a monk from the city of Amid. There is also a Syriac note, partly to the same effect. مما عمل برسم الدير المعمور للسيده عرف بدير السريان علي جانب الدير العظيم الذي علي اسم الاب العظيم ال...... الذي في ديار المصرية المحروسه في بريه ابو مقار القديس ص[لاته] تكون مع الكاتب هذه الاصطر الصغير شماس ....ا من مدينة امد المحروسه الخ. ܐܝܬ܏ܘ ܟܬܒܐ ܗܢܐ ܠܕܝܪܐ ܏ܩܕ ܕܒܝܬ ܝܠܕܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܒܡܕܒܪܐ ܕܐܣܩܝ̣ܛܝ ܕܡܬܝܕܥ ܕܣܘܪ̈ܝܝܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܠܐܢܫ ܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܕܢܐܦ̣ܩ ܠܗܢܐ ܠܒܪ ܡܢ ܕܝܪܐ ܕܐܡܝܪ ܏ܘܫ.

Physical Description

Paper, about 8 in. by 5 1/2, consisting of 45 leaves (Add. 17,239, foll. 16—60), of which the first and the last but one are much torn. The quires are signed with letters (from   Excerpt: ܝܗ to   Excerpt: ܝܛ), and also with Arabic words at the upper lefthand corner of the first page (see foll. 34a and 44a). There is a lacuna after fol. 53. The number of lines in each page is 15 or 16.

Hand 1 (major, Unspecified Syriac script): The writing is neat and regular, with occasional Syriac vowels.
Hand 2 (minor, Unspecified Arabic script): See additions.
Hand 3 (minor, Unspecified Syriac script): See additions.
