Physical Description
Paper, about 10 1/4 in. by 6 7/8, consisting of 291 leaves. The quires, 30 in number, are signed with letters, and the folios too are numbered from ܓto ܪܨܕ. A single leaf is wanting after fol. 77. There are 19 lines in each page. This volume is written ina good, regular hand, and dated A. Gr. 1500, A.D. 1189. Vowel-points have frequently been added, apparently by later hands, sometimes Greek (ܰ,ܰ,ܰ,ܰ, , , , ,; see foll. 1 b,2 a,and 49 a), but more usually Syriac.

The Arabic note on fol. 1 a, stating that this volume was given as a legacy to the convent of St. Mary Deipara, seems to have been written at the time of this second Bar-saumā.

A note on fol. 290 b, informs us that this manuscript was written A. Gr. 1500, A.D. 1189, in the convent of Mār Sergius on the Tūrā Sahyā, or Dry Mountain, [See Assemani, Bibl. Or., t. ii.p. 127, and the Dissert, de Monophysitis, art. ix., Monast. S. Sergii, in the same volume.] when Michael the Great was patriarch of Antioch, [See Assemani, Bibl. Or.,t. ii.p. 363;Le Quien, Oriens Christ., t. ii. col. 1389.]Gregory metropolitan of Tagrīt and Mosul, and John bishop of the said convent, by a monk named Abū Tāhir, a native of Mosul.

At a still later date,A. Gr. 1938, A.D. 1627, the monk George of Hisn Kīfā mentions (fol. 291 b) his having read and bound the volume in the convent of St. Mary Deipara, and implores a blessing on himself and his brother Moses bar Salāma of Damascus.
