Physical Description
Vellum, about 11 1/8 in. by 7 1/2, consisting of 103 leaves, some of which are much stained and torn, especially foll. 1, 2, 7, 8, 48, 58, 102 and 103. The quires, now only 11 in number, are signed with letters. Two quires are missing after fol. 58, and several after fol. 98. Each page is divided into two columns, of from 35 to 38 lines. Many Greek proper names and other words are expressed on the margins in Greek letters.

Another note on the same page states that these letters were
translated from the Greek by the priest Athanasius of
Nisibis, who dictated them to the
priest Severus, at the request of Matthew, bishop of Aleppo,
[Matthew I. See Le Quien, Or. Christ., t. ii., col. 1409.] and
Daniel, bishop of Edessa,
A. Gr. 980, A.D. 669. This was probably the same Athanasius who
afterwards became patriarch of the Jacobites (A. Gr. 995). Sec
