Physical Description

Vellum, about 8 1/4 in. by 6 1/2 , consisting of 207 leaves, many of which are much stained and a few slightly torn. The quires, 26 in number, are signed with letters, viz. Syriac at the foot of the first page of each quire, and Greek at the top (e.g. foll. 177, Δ, ܟܓ; 113, ΙΒ, ܝܗ; 105, ΙΓ, ܝܕ; 97, ΙΔ, ܝܓ; 89, ΙΕ, ܝܒ; 49, Κ, ܙ). Each page has from 13 to 15 lines.

Hand 1 (major, Estrangela script): The writing is a stiff, angular Estrangela of about the xth cent.
Hand 2 (minor, Unspecified Syriac script): Owing to the fading of the ink, whole pages have been retouched at a later date.
Hand 3 (minor, Unspecified Syriac script): See additions.

Additions

Addition 1 (Fol. 1): A later hand has added a marginal division of the Psalms into ܡܪ̈ܡܝܬܐ and ܫܘܒ̈ܚܐ.
Addition 2 (Fol. 207b): On fol. 207 b, after the doxology, stands the following prayer, from which we learn that the name of the scribe was Mārūthā. .ܪ̈ܚܡ̣ܐ ܕܚܢܘܗܝ ܠܓܢܣܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܕܡ. ܚܘܢܝܗܝ ܠܡܣܟܢܐ ܘܬܚܘܒܐ ܡܪܘܬܐ ܐܟܣܢܝܐ ܕܟ̣ܬܒ. ܘܚ̇ܣܐ ܠܗ ܘܠܥܢ̈ܝܕܐ ܕܝܠܗ ܡܗ̈ܝܡܢܐ ܒܨ̈ܠܘܬܐ ܕܟܠܗܘܢ ܩ̈ܕܝܫܐ
