Physical Description

Vellum, about 10 1/4 in. by 6 3/4, consisting of 179 leaves. The quires, signed with letters, are 18 in number. There are from 26 to 37 lines in each page.

Hand 1 (major, Unspecified Syriac script): This manuscript is written in a good, regular hand of the ixth cent.
Hand 2 (minor, West Syriac script): Greek vowels have been occasionally added, in most instances, it would seem, by later hands.
Hand 3 (minor, Unspecified Syriac script): The hymns on foll. 1 a, 178 b and 179, seem to be also in the hand of the scribe, the monk Simeon, though written currente calamo; and so also is the Index of the contents of the volume, fol. 1 b.
Hand 4 (minor, Unspecified Syriac script): See additions.

Addition 1 (Fol. 162a): In this manuscript the names, the names in The history of Hilaria, the daughter of the emperor Zeno were originally Maria (ܡܐܪܝܐ) and Theodosius (ܬܐܘܕܘܣܝܣ), but they have been altered throughout by a later hand.
Addition 2 (Fol. 2): In some parts of this manuscript there are brief glosses and Greek words written on the margins; especially on foll. 2—18.

Addition 9 (Fol. 7a): A note accompanying the autograph on the upper margin of fol. 7 a states that the autograph is that of John, bishop of Jerusalem, who visited the convent of S.
